It’s a funny joke to some folks, but not to those who can’t hear well. “I don’t need a microphone–I’m a loud mouth,” or “I hate this thing. Let me just talk to you without it,” says a presenter.
For those of us with significant hearing loss, the message is that we don’t matter, that people don’t care if we can hear them. For others with milder hearing loss, they may smile and bluff their way along, but they too fail to understand the speaker completely.
